Washington Post journalists Theresa Vargas and Michael Williamson have spent three months driving North and South, East and West, reporting on the impact of the recession on America and Americans. They've logged tens of thousands of miles and hundreds of interviews.

Their series, Half-a-Tank, provides some surprising insights into the resiliency and resourcefulness of the American people.
